IN MEMORY OF DAVID N. BARR, JR.

David N. Barr, Jr., age 94, and a resident of Quincy, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Born April 27, 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mr. Barr remained with his family in New Orleans until enlisting in the Army. Mr. Barr enlisted in the United States Army during WWII. He was stationed in Karachi India, where he worked in field artillery. He went to OCS school and was commissioned a Lieutenant. He later went into the Reserves and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War.

He enjoyed hiking, camping, friends and playing tennis.  He was a long-time member of the Appalachian Trail Conference, Keystone Trails Association, Cumberland Valley Appalachian Trail Club, and the Mountain Club of Maryland.

Over the years, many individuals who were active in KTA in previous decades pass away. KTA is seldom alerted. If you know of someone who was very active in KTA, please consider sending us their story for publication in The Keystone Hiker. In this way, we may memorialize their years of service to the Pennsylvania hiking community.

Another way to commemorate someone's passing is to make a contribution to Keystone Trails Association in their memory. We will notify remaining loved ones of your gift, and publicize it in our newsletter and on our website. Click here to make a contribute in memory of a special hiker.
