KTA Kids Art Contest Winners Announced!

This fall, children and youth, aged 4-17, could draw, paint, photograph, build, mold, or sketch their way toward a chance to win the 2013 KTA Kids' Art Contest: Find Me in Penn's Woods. Entrants were asked to create a work of art that features them playing, learning, volunteering, hiking, camping, or otherwise exploring Penn's Woods. Any media (paint, crayon, pencil, pen, chalk, digital artwork, photographs, diorama, paper machete, sculpture, etc.), and mixtures of media, were welcomed. Entrants were encouraged to use their imagination!
 
After much deliberation, artwork from each age category was selected by the KTA Board of Directors on January 4, 2014 to win the following prizes:

Name: Kaya Bernholz

Age: 7 Years Old

Hometown: Gardners, PA

Medium: Acrylic and tempera paint, marker, leaves, and glue

Interpretation: "It's about me at Seven Gables Park. I am under my big favorite tree. It is in the fall, with leaves falling. There is an owl with its nest right above it."

What Kaya likes about Penn's woods: "I like trees that are colorful. I like swimming at Fuller Lake and the creeks. I like to watch snakes. I like to meet up with our home school group in Pinchot State Park. I like colorful butterflies."

Age: 10 years old

Hometown: Hummelstown, PA

Medium: Crayons

Interpretation:

"My picture is about some of the things I have seen in nature."

What Laurel likes about Penn's woods:

"I like Pennsylvania because of huge rocks and trees that I can climb on. I also like the trails and waterfalls that are found in the forests."

Interpretation: "The picture is about my dad, brother and I camping in Penn's woods."

What Aidan likes about Penn's Woods: "It's so beautiful and peaceful."

 

 


Name: Bronwen E. Moore

Age: 9 years old

Hometown: Camp Hill, PA

Medium: Crayons

Interpretation: "My picture is me and my Papa (grandfather) shooting bow and arrow in the woods behind his house in Hershey."

What Brownwen likes about Penn's Woods: "The woods are really pretty, and I
like to see animals."
