Hike Patagonia and help KTA too!

Spaces are still available on Treks & Trails International’s backpacking excursion to Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, March 8-22. Rightly considered one of the most beautiful places on earth, Paine's iconic mountains, wind-swept forests, massive glaciers and granite spires have inspired travelers for decades.

We will be hiking the 70-mile Circuit, circumnavigating the park to take in all its outstanding features including the Paine Massif, the Torres, Glaciar Grey, and the John Gardner Pass. Wildlife include llama-like guanacos, condors, and the elusive puma. Led by KTA Board Vice President and Life Member Paul Shaw, we will be camping each night, but will be enjoying meals prepared at the nearby refugios. Backpacking gear (tent, backpack) are available to rent if you don’t have your own. Participants must be in good physical condition, capable of carrying 30 pound packs up to 11 miles per day.

Our group meets in beautiful Buenos Aires, Argentina, birthplace of Tango, where we have a full day to explore. Many nearby tango dance schools perform in the plaza near our hotel in the historic San Telmo neighborhood. From Buenos Aires, we fly to the resort town of El Calafate in Patagonia, then travel by bus across the southern Andes to Puerto Natales in Chile, the gateway to Torres del Paine. This is truly a hiking adventure of a lifetime!

How does this help KTA? In 2014, Treks & Trails International will donate $200 to KTA for each member who joins a Treks & Trails trip. January 15 is the deadline for reservations for Torres del Paine. Cost is $3,795; this includes all transportation, lodging, and most meals from Buenos Aires. Details on this and all Treks & Trails trips may be found by clicking here. You can also contact Paul Shaw at pshaw@treksandtrailsinternational.com or 717-215-8339.
