100 Mile Profile: Sean Bennett, Mahaffey, PA

For having only hiked regularly for the past eight months, Sean has had some memorable hiking experiences! Most recently, he spent three weeks on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia and says that reaching the top of Blood Mountain was definitely the highlight.

Sean has hiked many of the trails listed 50 Hikes in Western PA, which he always carries with him for inspiration. Some of his favorite Pennsylvania trails are the John P Saylor Trail, Beartown Rocks, and the Laurel Highland Trail, on which he hopes to log some miles during the coming year.

Sean began hiking after a back injury last spring. Although he began very slowly, he admits that hiking is now an obsession! He tries to get in 25 to 40 miles each week and has lost 100 pounds since his injury!

Sean's advice for anyone feeling stressed: "Go hiking, it will get better when you get back. It will enrich your life many ways."

Good luck and thanks for your support, Sean!
