Book Review: "Stand up that Mountain"

by Kaira Loving, KTA Intern

Appalachian Trail lovers: searching for a good read this fall as you drink your pumpkin-spice coffee and warm up next to the fire? Check out Stand Up That Mountain: The Battle to Save One Small Community in the Wilderness Along the Appalachian Trail by Jay Erskine Leutze. Linda Enders, a KTA Representatives-at-Large, recommends this true story; it is an inspiring tale of civil action and community members teaming up to take on a mining company set to destroy the local Belview Mountain, which sits next to the Appalachian Trail. In the story, Jay Leutze, author, is contacted by the “mountain people," desperate to hire this non-practicing attorney to stop the destruction. This is a great page-turner, truly showing what is possible when people come together with a common goal of righting a wrong.
