New DEP and DCNR Secretaries Announced

from Patrick Henderson, Energy Executive, Office of Governor Tom Corbett

Governor Corbett nominated Chris Abruzzo as the Secretary of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Ellen Ferretti as the Secretary of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Mr. Abruzzo and Ms. Ferretti have distinguished themselves over the past several months while leading their respective agencies in an acting capacity.

Mr. Abruzzo, who has served as Acting Secretary of DEP since April 2013, previously worked as a Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Corbett with oversight of the Departments of Environmental Protection and Conservation and Natural Resources.

In addition, Mr. Abruzzo brings a unique local government perspective to DEP as a current member of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors and Derry Township Municipal Authority. These positions have enabled him to experience first-hand the importance of maintaining an open dialogue between DEP and affected stakeholders.

Ms. Ellen Ferretti has served as the Acting Secretary of DCNR since June 2013. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Ferretti worked as the Deputy Secretary for Parks and Forestry.

Throughout her career, Acting Secretary Ferretti has distinguished herself as a leader in the conservation community. A former Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and land protection specialist for The Nature Conservancy, Acting Secretary Ferretti is uniquely qualified to manage the Commonwealth's parks, forests and conservation programs.

Governor Corbett believes the breadth of experience Mr. Abruzzo and Ms. Ferretti possess will ensure Pennsylvania remains a national leader in the protection and preservation of our precious natural resources.
