Meet KTA's Intern: Kaira Loving

by Kaira Loving, KTA Intern

Hello! My name is Kaira Loving and I am thrilled to be announcing my position as Keystone Trail Association’s newest intern for this summer! I grew up in Central PA, but my love for the natural world brought me to Northland College, a small environmental liberal arts college snuggled up next to Lake Superior, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to pursue degrees in Sustainable Community Development and Environmental Studies (which will finally be attained in December!) I just returned to the US in April from a four month excursion to Nicaragua and Costa Rica where I worked with rural communities helping them build community and develop and implement sustainable initiatives such as organic farming, solar panel installation, trail maintenance, environmental education techniques, community art projects, natural building etc. Busy, rewarding, and eye opening. And of course free time was spent hiking through the jungle, having the privilege to experience some beautiful scenery and interact and live with some beautiful people. A seed of inspiration was planted and I knew I had to return home for the summer to continue protecting the natural world and promoting environmentalism. I was drawn to KTA because of my passion for the outdoors and a goal of working with a nonprofit. I am excited to help plan, and of course attend, many of the events planned for this summer!
