Club Connection: Ironmaster's Challenge

On Sunday, April 28, The Central Pennsylvania Conservancy and SATC invite you to participate in the 4th Annual Ironmaster’s Challenge in Pine Grove Furnace State Park and Michaux State Forest. This year’s challenge features 3 events: 50k Ultra, 20-Miler, and 15k Trek.

Experience challenging rock scrambles and grueling ascents on the 50k Ultra and the 20 Miler. The 15k trek (9.3 miles) presents a more modest challenge. All events offer ridgeline vistas, spring wildflowers, rushing streams, lakeside beach crossing, and epic single track trails through Michaux SF.

Every year participants praise the event routes for their challenging features, scenic quality and diversity, and the finish-line reception at the Ironmaster’s Mansion, the A.T.’s landmark mid-point hostel. This facility is managed by the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy. All proceeds from the Ironmaster’s Challenge support ongoing maintenance, operations, and programming at the Mansion.  A new IC website has been launched along with new trail maps and a new logo. The events are supported with checkpoints providing water and snacks, as well as separate water stations. Participants are assisted with improved trail support and marking system. Submit your online registration by April 15th to reserve your space in a springtime experience you will never forget!

Regardless of which event you choose, you will have fun. Sunshine, fresh air, and forested trails beckon you to join us ... besides, you’ll be supporting a great cause! Volunteers are needed for early morning event-day registration, checkpoint staffing (choose from 4), picnic hospitality, and finish line support. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and free admission to the picnic. Early morning volunteers may stay overnight free at the Mansion.
