Keeping Trails Alive

The Commonwealth’s hiking trails provide a year-round opportunity for low– and no-cost outdoor recreation to hikers, birders, outdoor photographers, and other recreationists. However, in order for Pennsylvania’s trails to remain free to the public, those who use them must continue to give back to the organizations committed to maintaining them—organizations like Keystone Trails Association.

Each year, KTA spends over ten thousand dollars and nearly 4,500-volunteer hours to keep your favorite footpaths accessible, visible, and well maintained. The assurance of peaceful, scenic, and well-maintained trails in the present day and in the future continues to depend upon hikers valuing their trails enough to sustain them with a financial commitment.

In anticipation of your financial support, KTA’s 2013 Trail Care Program is robust. We have scheduled four one-day Code Orange events, seven weekend Trail Care events, and five week-long Trail Crew events for the coming season. These trail-building and trail-maintenance events will directly benefit footpaths like the Chuck Keiper Trail, Donut Hole Trail, Standing Stone Trail, North Country Trail, Mid State Trail, and others.

Over 150 volunteers will attend these events, and your support is critical in order to provide them with the tools and supplies necessary to accomplish their mission. Your contribution will also help cover the expenses of insurance, lodging, tenting fees, and meals for volunteers at selected trail maintenance events.

This month, please consider supporting KTA’s Trail Care Program with a gift of $80 or more, or by enrolling in our Keep Trails Alive monthly donor program with a contribution of $10 or more per month. Click here to make an onling contribution to KTA.

Thank you for your generosity, your confidence in KTA, and your continuing support of our mission to provide, preserve, protect and promote recreational hiking trails and hiking opportunities in Pennsylvania.

With warmest regards,
Keystone Trails Association
