Aftermath of Super-Storm Sandy

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reports that the majority of Pennsylvania's state parks and state forests were spared the severe damage associated with the historic coastal storm that struck Oct. 29-30.
Most damage addressed by DCNR was confined to the eastern section of the state, Region 4, where outages crimped telephone, internet and other operations in at least ten state parks. In addition, wind and falling tree/limb damage was reported at Beltzville State Park, Carbon County; Hickory Run; Lehigh Gorge, Carbon County; Lackawanna.

KTA has not received reports from member maintaining clubs regarding sustained damage to individual (non-State Park or State Forest) hiking trails. If your local trail has suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy, please let us know so that we can list the damage on KTA's Facebook page, on the Trail Alerts section of our website, and in our December 1st edition of The Keystone Hiker. Thank you!
