KTA Club Representation in Harrisburg

by Curt Ashenfelter, Executive Director

In the next few weeks I will be meeting with DCNR to learn exactly on a lease-by-lease basis where gas leases have occurred in relation to hiking trails in state forests and state parks.  A detailed examination of the lease sites will reveal where trails may pass nearby.

With these proactive steps, KTA will learn where there may be conflicts. KTA can then propose alternate actions to maintain the look and feel of our wonderful network of wilderness trails.   With these proactive steps, KTA is representing your club and your club members with state government and the gas industry. If you or your club are concerned about any rumored gas leases, please contact me or send me an email with the exact location of the rumored gas lease and I will be able to confirm or relieve your concerns.  Additionally, as appropriate, I can work with your club or a concerned local club member to more fully understand the potential impacts of gas activity on our state forests and state parks.

Working together, local clubs and the Keystone Trails Association will work to minimize damage to hiking trails located near gas well pads.
