OCTOBER 9: FALL SLATE RUN RAMBLE

by Ben Sands, Forester, Tiadaghton State Forest

The fall Slate Run Ramble will be held on Sunday, October 9. Those interested in attending should arrive early Sunday morning at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources parking lot in Slate Run. We’ll begin the hike at 9:00 AM and continue into the afternoon for a distance of around 10 to 12 miles. Our trek will include the Jerald North Side Trail, the Black Forest Trail, and the Wood and Childs’ Trail. We’ll conclude the hike by descending into Slate Run via the Black Forest Trail, with brief stops at some great vistas overlooking Slate Run. Because of the steep terrain in the Pine Creek Valley, you should consider the hike to be strenuous/difficult. For more information, please call the Tiadaghton State Forest at 570-753-5409 or e-mail fd12@pa.gov.
