SPRING HIKING WEEKEND—REFLECTIONS FROM FIRST-TIMERS

After they attended their first Keystone Trails Association hiking weekend, I asked them to share some memories about the weekend, or why they enjoyed themselves. Here is what they sent. -Sara Haxby

Roy: It gives me time to be with my granddaughter Dominique, one on one. We both think alike and see nature in the same way. She laughs at me and I laugh at her when we slip, fall, step in the creek instead of on a rock or log, or take a roll in the snow; then we stop and enjoy a view together.

Dominique: I enjoy hiking with my grandpa because we see new things, being in the wild outdoors and enjoying Mother Nature. Hiking clears your mind. It’s a great way to unwind and get back on track. We always hike to the top of a mountain, make loud noises (calling for Bigfoot), have a snack, and enjoy the view. Grandpa and I think alike (great minds think alike). If one of us falls, we laugh but help each other out.
