100 MILE TRAIL CHALLENGE PROFILE: TODD SINONE

 Meet Todd, avid hiker!

Any nicknames?
No.

Your age?
38.

Your hometown?
Millville, New Jersey.

How long have you been hiking?
Just under a year.

What is your earliest memory of hiking or most memorable hiking experience?
Our first serious hike was the very unforgettable Mount Tammany! About a quarter of the way up, my oldest daughter says, “Whose idea was this?” At the top, after a long rest and lunch, my 9-year-old son points out and says, very confidently, “Well, Dad, it’s all downhill from here!” We all were in tents, asleep, by 9 that night.

Why did you decide to take the 100-Mile Trail Challenge?
I love a good challenge! Plus, it gives me reason to hike.

What are some of the trails you plan to hike on to meet this goal?
I like the West Rim Trail for starters. Looks cool!

What is your #1 favorite hiking trail in PA, and why is it your favorite?
I’m a first-timer in PA, so I’ll take some suggestions.

What is your favorite thing about hiking?
The peace, the nature, the wildlife.

Who is sponsoring you so far (friends, family, coworkers, hiking club, etc.)?
My wife, but she doesn’t know it yet. Thanks, honey!

How did you hear about KTA/first get involved with KTA?
I was searching to expand my hikes into other states.

Do you have any advice to new hikers?
I’m a fairly new hiker myself, so let me see. Explore, take a lot of pictures, soak in all that God has surrounded you with.

What is the one thing you’ll never hit the trail without?
MY WIFE lol - and good trail music.

Do you have a favorite nature/hiking quote that you can share with us (either your own or someone else’s)?
“I got toilet paper and a shovel!” And, talking about bears in the movie a Walk in the Woods, “Those f***ers ain’t got me yet!”

Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Get out and do something! Get away from your computer, tablet, or phone. If you don’t know where to start, hit me up—I’m always game for it. Hiking doesn’t have to be an epic adventure. A few hours or a day trip—just do it. It will be an epic experience. Hope to see you out there! Thanks, guys!
