In December, we were informed that we were losing our lease on the office space in Harrisburg after many years of being located at 101 N. Front Street. Although this presents some challenges, it also provides some new and exciting opportunities.
We’re tentatively planning on moving into new office space on January 12 at 46 E. Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Although our mailing address will change, the KTA Web site, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers should remain the same. This new facility will provide us with
• Free on-street and off-street parking
• First-floor access and storefront display area
• Easy, convenient access for customers to walk in for buying maps or guidebooks or to ask for hiking advice
• 3 to 4 times the amount of space, including storage
• Signage and a visual presence on a main thoroughfare
• An opportunity to participate in community events—the Earth Day Celebration, Jubilee Day, Streets of Treats (Halloween), and others—directly from the office
• Space where clubs can meet and where board meetings and other get-togethers, such as open house events, can be held
• Wall space to display maps, hiking-related art, and photography exhibits
January and February will be a busy time for us as we move and set up the new facility. Please bear with us if you have a day or so delay in getting a response to your requests. Once we’re settled in, operations will return to normal.
We’re planning an open house celebration this spring to introduce our members to the new facility. Stay tuned for details, and hopefully we’ll see you there!
