PA CHAPTER OF THE SIERRA CLUB RESPONDS TO MAJOR MOUNTAIN BIKING PROPOSAL ARTICLE

by David Sublette, Chair

Wilderness Committee, PA Chapter, Sierra Club

Member Wildlands and Wilderness Team, National Sierra Club

In response to the recent article regarding mountain bike trails on Tracy Ridge, the PA Chapter of theSierra Club wishes to clarify the Club's current position on Tracy Ridge and opposition to bike trails.

The Sierra Club proposes two regions for wilderness designation, Chestnut Ridge and Minister Valley but Tracy Ridge is not currently proposed for wilderness by the Sierra Club. Opposition to mountain biking is normally reserved to areas designated as wilderness or areas proposed as wilderness by the Sierra Club.

This should not imply that individual members of the Club are prohibited from opposing the possible development of bike trails within the Tracy Ridge region.
