UPDATED - Palmerton Hikes from Lehigh Gap

Recruitment Hikes for KTA Section of the Appalachian Trail

The Keystone Trails Association (KTA), the statewide voice of Pennsylcania's hikers is offering two winter hikes along the Appalachian Trail in the Palmerton Area this January. Both hikes will start at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center.

The Appalachian Trail (AT) is Pennsylvania's most well-known trail. It stretches almost 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine and is enjoyed by millions of hikers each year.

KTA would like to become the maintaining club for a ten mile section of the AT, in the vicinity of Lehigh Gap. In order to do this, KTA needs a corps of dedicated, local volunteers to help us. Are you interested in finding out more, as well as going on a nice winter hike? Please join us on one (or both) of the following dates to explore the section and talk about the opportunity. Feel free to join us with no future obligation!!

Hike #2: Saturday, February 20, 2016, 10 am - Complete.

WEATHER PERMITTING. THE TRAIL MAY BE ICY, SO BRING CRAMPONS, YAK-TRAKS, ETC., IF YOU HAVE THEM. ALSO WEAR SOME BLAZE ORANGE.

This 5 mile hike will start out at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center (LGNC), where we'll take the Woodpecker Trail from the LGNC south to the Appalachian Trail (A.T.). After the shelter, we'll take the North Trail to where it rejoins the A.T., then take the A.T. north back to the LGNC.
