GET OUT MORE YOUTH EXPO

by Joe Healey, Woolrich Regional Manager, Mid State Trail Association

The Woolrich Corp. sponsored a Get Out More Youth Expo at Woolrich Park, Clinton County, on August 15. As the Mid State Trail (MST) goes through Woolrich, the Woolrich Corp. is very receptive to the comings and goings of the Mid State Trail Association (MSTA) and also allows the trail to pass through their property. In addition, at no expense to the MSTA, the Woolrich Corp. erected a 3-sided lean-to for hikers and put in a pedestrian bridge across Gravel Hill stream in the community as a courtesy to MST hikers. Dave Walp and Joe Healey were there to represent KTA, the MSTA, and the Great Eastern Trail, which uses the MST for a number of miles on its way to New York State.

The Woolrich Corp. objective is to get young folks more interested camping, canoeing, hiking, biking, and other activities of the great outdoors instead of sitting around at their computer or smart phone. Various organizations connected with the great outdoors were in attendance. It appears that Woolrich Corp.’s concept worked, as the turnout was great and everyone in attendance seemed to have a good time. Hopefully most of what was presented there will rub off on the youth in attendance.
