IN MEMORY OF JANET GOLOUB

In life, Janet Goloub was a woman who wore many hats. She was the life partner of Martin Boksenbaum and the mother of Laura and Ivan. She was also a woman who worked in many different areas of the arts. From her early days in Brooklyn, she found her way to Pennsylvania, where she would spend 35 years of her life playing out the happy melodies of life in the same ways she did when she was a librarian at WDIY, who cataloged classical music as a DJ for Lehigh Valley Public Radio. In addition to the arts, she cared deeply about her extended family and her grandchildren as well as the world around her, serving in a committee for the Lehigh–Pocono Committee of Concern Peace Center, as well as on the Lehigh Valley Arts Council.

During her lifetime, she demonstrated for peace and a better world that could be transformed in many ways. One of these was to find places to enjoy. In this, she was a KTA Life Member since 2006 and an active member of the Allentown Hiking Club and the Appalachian Mountain Club–Delaware Valley Chapter of the ATC. This hiking career took her to many places in life, including every single mile of the Appalachian Trail, which she thru-hiked. In addition, she went to Bolivia, Canada, China, England, France, New Zealand, Russia, and South Africa.

Unfortunately, for all of us who knew her, Janet passed away on May 1 at the age of 77. After 26 years of battling cancer, she said good-bye to her family, friends, and flower beds for the final time. If you would like to memorialize her life in any way, we encourage you to donate to the following: Alliance for Sustainable Communities–Lehigh Valley; the Lehigh Gap Nature Center; the LEPOCO Peace Center; the Lehigh Valley Arts Council; the Mock Turtle Marionette Theatre; the New Arts Program, Kutztown; the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra; the Touchstone Theatre; the WDIY; Godfrey Daniels; and KTA.
