KTA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Harrisburg, PA, February 27, 2015 - Keystone Trails Association (KTA) Executive Director Curt Ashenfelter today announced his retirement, which will become effective on February 28.

Curt joined KTA in April, 2008. He said: "I've enjoyed working for Pennsylvania's statewide hiking and trails advocacy organization. Pennsylvania's hiking trails are a wonderful resource for all Pennsylvanians to enjoy. Our work to protect trails on a number of fronts has been challenging and rewarding. We've been involved in issues like Sunday hunting, gas drilling in state parks and forests and hiker permits on State Game Lands. We've worked to build our membership, initiate grants for local hiking clubs and increase trail maintenance for numerous trails. We've also implemented and managed the annual Susquehanna Super Hike. I'm looking forward to a full recovery from my recent illness and the next phase of my life."

Wanda Shirk, President of KTA noted: "Curt's personality and knowledge of state government have been real assets to KTA. We hope that Curt and Sandy will remain involved in KTA, and will join us at future hiking events. The KTA Board is reviewing our options as far as filling the position of Executive Director. Securing competent and dynamic leadership is high priority for KTA, and we will move forward carefully in our search for the right individual."

KTA is a federation of membership organizations and individuals dedicated to providing, preserving, protecting and promoting recreational hiking trails and hiking opportunities in Pennsylvania. KTA also represents and advocates for the interests and concerns of the Pennsylvania hiking community.
