PATC MYRON AVERY AWARD

by Dewey Clark, PATC North District Manager

Named in honor of the founder of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC), the Myron Avery Award recognizes a substantial achievement by a PATC member who most exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism through his or her contribution to the PATC during the past year. This is the highest honor bestowed upon members of the club and is awarded to the PATC volunteer who most exemplifies Mr. Avery’s dedication and devotion to PATC’s mission.

Pete Brown was recognized for his work and leadership with the Myron Avery Award at the annual PATC dinner. The club president, John Hedrick, mentioned Pete’s leadership behind the prodigious amount of work performed by the Yankee Clippers over this last year, including Little Cove, Silberman Bridge, the new Web site, and the Charlie Irvin Shelter—all while representing the Club in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Partnership Council and working on PATC Council business. Pete, who was recovering from knee surgery, was able to hear John’s comments via phone. Well done, Pete, and speedy recovery!
