A backpack and basket raffle will be held at the KTA’s 2015 Spring Hiking Weekend (April 17-19, 2015, at Camp Swatara) to benefit the KTA and the work we do to preserve and protect Pennsylvania’s hiking trails! Any individual or organization is welcome to contribute one or more themed baskets, bags, or backpacks with items for this fundraiser. Donors of items will receive recognition at the event, in our newsletter, and on our website; they’ll also receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes (please let us know the retail value of your basket, bag, or backpack and a list of its contents no later than April 17, 2015).
Items should be new or like-new and relate to hiking, the outdoors, or nature. Themes may include a map basket; hiking gear; books on nature or hiking; food for hiking and backpacking; gas cards; gift cards for restaurants or grocery stores (to purchase food for hiking trips); a basket or gardening bucket with clippers, gloves, loppers, brushes, etc., for trail maintenance; tickets to an outdoors-related event; membership to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary or to a hiking or trail-maintenance organization; and jewelry, accessories, or clothing related to hiking, nature, or the outdoors. The sky’s the limit!
Donors may send or drop off baskets and items at KTA Headquarters (101 N. Front Street, Harrisburg) ahead of time, or bring them to the event on Friday, April 17. The raffle will be held from the evening of April 17 to the evening of April 18, concluding at the Saturday evening dinner. Please let us know by April 10 if you plan to contribute something for this fundraiser. If you know of an organization or business that wants to sponsor a basket but requires an official request letter from the KTA, please let us know that as well. Thank you in advance for your help!
