DCNR RECRUITS APPLICANTS FOR TRAILS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is accepting nominations though November 7, 2014, for 8 appointments to the Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee. Member terms are 3 calendar years beginning January 1.

The 20-member committee helps implement trail recommendations in the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (http://www.paoutdoorrecplan.com/2014_Plan/index.htm). Members represent trail users, trail builders, trail advocates, and persons with disabilities. Nominations are being accepted for positions representing the following trail interests:

The committee fulfills the federal requirements for the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Program. This program provides funds for developing and maintaining recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail uses. The committee’s main responsibilities include advising the DCNR on using trail funding in Pennsylvania, reviewing and ranking trail project applications, and presenting an annual trails report to the DCNR Secretary.  Members must participate in 4 meetings per year in various parts of the state, and work with a subcommittee.

Submit your nomination by filling out a short online questionnaire (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/brc/recreation/trails/patrailsadvisory/trailmembership/index.htm) and sending in the nominee’s résumé by November 7, 2014 (see instructions in the online questionnaire). Appointments will be made by the DCNR Secretary.
